If your system is running slow there are things we can usually do to improve performance back to that like new feeling. Things we look at here include CPU, memory and hard disk utilisation. Usually an annual system service will cure most slowdowns but it is often cost effective to upgrade the system with more memory and a solid state drive to speed up startup and overall performance of your system. When combined with an annual service we usually only charge extra for parts used in upgrades, as the labour is covered in the annual service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most of our customers report significant performance boost after upgrades. Several of our SME business customers have opted for upgrades of their existing PCs rather than replacement, usually with an cost saving of over 50% over buying new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We WILL advise if we do not think your system is suitable to upgrade (at no charge).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Repairs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We repair down to component level which is a green and environmentally friendly rather then “throw away and replace”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liquid Damaged Devices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
We do board level repairs on MacBooks and iPhones. These devices are particularly vulnerable to liquid damage (“I only spilt water on it- honest!”) which corrodes the circuit boards very quickly. If under Apple warranty and accident cover then they will generally offer a replacement rather than repair (this usually means you lose your data). Our advice here is do NOT try and dry the device out by placing it in a bag of rice (urban myth, it actually makes it worse). Instead follow these instructions as quickly as possible: –<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Disconnect from charger<\/li>
- If you can, remove the battery (unfortunately for most these days you can’t)<\/li>
- Dry exterior of device as best you can, kitchen towel is best<\/li>
- Place in a suitable sized plastic bag and seal.<\/li>
- Get it to a repair shop as quick as you can, the circuit board(s) need to be removed and professionally ultrasonic cleaned, alcohol cleaned and then baked in an electronics oven to thoroughly dry out the circuit boards. If you dry out before the ultrasonic cleaning then you are just baking on the corrosion and the liquid remains under the chips on the circuit board.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Under no circumstances connect battery or charger as it is power running through the device that causes most corrosion and damage the liquid is just the electrolyte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Data Recovery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
If you have a faulty device (PC, iPhone, MacBook etc) then usually the irreplaceable parts is your data. All those photos of your babies, contacts, documents, spreadsheets, essays, thesis’ etc etc. Hopefully you have all these backed up but in our experience people usually don’t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Getting this data back is easier the quicker you get a professional involved. We can usually get data back off failing devices as long as they “sometimes work” or “just about work” if however you wait until they fail completely then it is much more difficult and therefore expensive. So contact us sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Getting data off encrypted devices like iPhones and iPads is extra difficult if the device fails because the device is needed to decrypt the data . This usually means making the device work just enough to enable us to recover the data (See liquid damage above).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If we fail to get data back then there are very expensive data recovery laboratories we use to get data from failed hard drives. These laboratory services typically start from \u00a3500 upwards – not for the faint hearted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once data is recovered we usually supply if back to you on DVD, USB drive or hard disk dependant on size. If we are recovering from iPhone or iPad then usually the data is in the form of an iTunes backup.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
